Helping the Community

John Dawson has always believed in helping and supporting those in need in the local community.

John has been always active in helping the community, serving on local school boards, on the Chamber of Commerce Board, and his regular work on Habitat for Humanity. Over the past several years, he has gone on an annual youth mission trip with a local church team. For example, he has gone to various locations in South Dakota, West Virginia, Missouri, and Michigan.

In addition, Dawson Builders helped to remodel of The Samaritan Counseling Center in Barrington, IL.  The team helped to provide additional space for their growth expansion.  When a few of the Samaritan Board members mentioned the construction project to John Dawson, he thought; “What better way to give back to our local community than by helping Samaritan, a growing organization right in our back yard.” This project included moving walls and doors to create their new offices, rebuilding the metal framed walls with drywall installation, completing electrical work, and repairing the drop ceilings and installing baseboards.  Dawson continues to help them as needed.

Dawson Builders has also contributed their time and their resources to help
The Build Team (TBT) NFP with all of their home projects. John has spent at least 30 weekends a year to help on the TBT projects.

The Build Team was launched in 2014 and is organized exclusively for charitable purposes as an Illinois not-for-profit company. Their goal is to meet those charitable objectives for families in Northwest Cook and surrounding counties in Illinois.

The Mission is:
  • Bring home repair services to homeowners in need
  • Let homeowners remain in their homes
  • Deliver volunteer opportunities to learn construction skills
